FILMING PERMITS AND VISAS FOR INTERNATIONAL CREW:
A) DOCUMENTARIES & COMMERCIALS
Foreign Production Companies intending to shoot documentary films/AV commercials should send the completed application form and signed undertaking to the officer responsible for Press and Information work in the concerned local Embassy or High Commissions of India for processing. Once the proposal is approved, the Indian missions abroad will issue Journalist (‘J’) visa for travel to India for filming. Import of only filming equipment is facilitated upon issue of the clearance. This process may take between 1 to 3 weeks.
B) FEATURE FILMS & TV/ WEB SHOWS & SERIES
Proposals regarding shooting of feature films, TV / Web shows & series and TV / Web Reality shows & series are handled by the FFO on behalf of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, which processes the request and takes a decision within a specific time frame. However, permissions for shooting in restricted areas take longer due to security reasons. Once the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting approves a project proposal, Indian Missions abroad grant Film Visa [F] to the project team.
C) LOCAL PERMISSIONS
Once the foreign crew gets the Permits and Visas, we will ensure that all necessary local permits are obtained. This may include permits from Administration, Local Police & other authorities, Traffic, Forest Department, Archaeological Department, Defence Ministry, Home Ministry and owners of Properties.
